Two schools not making the grade in public health’s latest inspection report

The Japanese School of Guam became the most recent school to receive a “D” rating.

Some of the violations include a lack of mesh for outside openings, which let flies and wasps into a classroom. One student even got stung by a wasp.

Other issues include high humidity due to doors left open, and cleaning and chemical products not being stored properly—in addition to students getting sick with a sore throat, diarrhea, and fever for more than five days.

Meanwhile, Simon Sanchez High School was also given a “D.”

Both schools are required to be in full sanitary compliance by June 2024, however, should Bill 29-37 become law, public schools must be in compliance by School Year 2023-2024.
