11 police officers on Saipan were reinstated by the CNMI Department of Public Safety after an investigation into alleged unjustified overtime hours.

In March,  28 police officers in the CNMI were placed on administrative duty for the OT pay. The CNMI's police chief, Clement Bermudes, says while three of those officers resigned at the start of the investigation, the probe continues for the 17 officers' cases.

"It is both an administrative and also a criminal investigation because it is illegal overtime...so once they get cleared like the 11 we reinstate them back to full duty," Bermudes stated.

He told KUAM News that there are 195 officers at CNMI DPS.
