Power restored to 56.5% of customers

Power was restored to 56.5% of customers as of Saturday afternoon. An 11-bucket truck crew restored service to a second transmission line between Hagatna and Piti Friday night. This now provides additional reliability to the grid and minimizes the separation of the grid which occurred yesterday afternoon, according to the Guam Power Authority.
A team from Washington started restoring the 115KV express line from Piti to Harmon substation today, which would substantially strengthen the grid.
GPA crews will now be able to concentrate mainly on distribution circuits bringing more and more customers restored.
Tonight, four linemen will arrive from Pohnpei, with additional four more arriving early tomorrow morning.
GPA anticipates receiving eight bucket trucks through FEMA to add to its existing fleet.
