The trial for murder defendant Nicholas Moore could possibly start next year. Moore, who stands accused in the killing of Michael Castro, was in court on Tuesday.

Defense attorney Mike Phillips tells KUAM News that the trial will most likely start in early 2024. The murder trial will be held before Moore’s separate criminal charges are go to trial.  This includes the drive-by shooting and a sexual assault case in which he's been accused.

For the drive-by shooting case that left another man injured, Attorney Phillips saying prosecutors told them they do not intend to call co-defendant Eric Salone back to the stand to testify.

As KUAM reported, Salone took a plea deal admitting to his part in the Agana Heights drive-by shooting.  But, Phillips contends Salone is required by his plea deal to cooperate and should be brought back to testify. He is now requesting for the court to make that happen.

Moore remains out of prison under house arrest.
