A federal judge issued a warrant for one of the men who admitted to his role in scamming Guam residents out of millions of dollars. Sentencing was set today for defendant Jide Abimbola.

He was a no-show in the courtroom.

His local defense attorney Jay Arriola previously asked the court to delay the hearing stating Abimbola was recently robbed and lost his license, work authorization, and credit cards. But the judge denied the request.

Court documents state Abimbola is currently in Florida and was ordered by the court to appear in person for sentencing.

His case will be heard again tomorrow in the District Court of Guam before Senior Judge John Coughenour.

That's when co-defendant Okechukwu Iwuji will be sentenced.

As KUAM reported, the defendants scammed more than 50 people out of more than $2.3 million in an advance fee scheme.

The victims were promised large amounts of money for paying a fee, but they never got anything in return.
