The seven Government of Guam officials charged in two separate corruption investigations were back in court today.

In the Guam Regional Transit Authority case, defendants Richard Ybanez, Jennifer Badar Cruz, Alejo Sablan, Anthony Chargualaf, and Kevin Susuico were told their attorneys have until this Friday to waive their speedy trial rights.

The five are charged in their official capacities.

The defense noted today there are more than 400 pages of discovery being reviewed.

Prosecutors alleged improper expenditures of government funds in paying then interim executive manager Ybanez for a position that he was not qualified to hold.

Separately, Department of Public Health Director Art San Agustin and Chief Inspector Masatomo Nadeau appeared in court for their case.

Prosecutors alleged officials wrongfully issued sanitary permits allegedly endangering Guam Department of Education students, teachers, staff, visitors and the general public at multiple Government of Guam public schools.

Both cases are still set to go to trial.

The defendants are set back in court on Sept. 6.
