The Guam Women's Chamber of Commerce has been in existence for 10 years. It is quite a milestone for the organization whose mission is to advance women in business through advocacy, mentorship, and access to resources.

And this year, marking such an occasion is their annual Fanachu Famalao'an conference, which takes place on Oct. 19 at the Dusit Thani Guam resort. Speaking at this year's conference are a pair of forces to be reckoned with, Guam-rooted Lorrie Baldevia who is the agency president of Assured Partners in Seattle, Washington and Cassandra Mcfadden, global head of sustainability for Cortland in Atlanta.

Women's Chamber Executive Director Erin Loder shared her excitement.

"Oh my goodness, I'm so excited for both of them," she said. "Both of them are Guam-raised, they live off-island right now. Lorrie Baldevia is going to be our afternoon keynote speaker and she is an absolute powerhouse. Very exciting to listen to. And Cassandra McFadden, she will be our morning keynote speaker and she is really big in the real estate industry and sustainability. Along with speaking, they will be teaching a masterclass session."

Along with the two powerhouse speakers, the day will be jam-packed with breakout sessions, dynamic panel discussions, a marketplace featuring female-owned businesses and vendors, and unique activities.

"We want people to leave the conference feeling encouraged, inspired, empowered," Loder said. "These two women just happen to be that. We have a different theme every single year and out theme this year is Women Rising and it is kind of a nod to our 10-year anniversary this year as well. Our goal is to make women in business feel empowered and ready to take on whatever their next chapter is."
