While each storm our island faces is unique in its composition, intensity and timing, one constant emergency responders always deal with is ensuring expectant mothers are properly sheltered. Mommies-to-be that are 36 weeks or later into their pregnancies are encouraged to head to the Guam Memorial Hospital in Tamuning, where staff will take care of you should you need it due to any changes in barometric pressure.

"Pregnant women 36 weeks or later or 25 weeks or later if you're high-risk are urged to check-in," detailed Jenna Blas, the spokesperson for Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense."

Governor's communications director Krystal Paco-San Agustin added, "All pregnant mothers are encouraged to have a complete meal prior to coming to GMH this evening at 6pm.  Pregnant mothers area asked to bring their own pillows, their own clean blankets and their own linens. So just be prepared to be comfortable and to bunker at GMH. You should bring their ID and insurance cards...although meals will be provided for mothers, you're encouraged to bring additional drinking water and snacks that do not require refrigeration or heating."

Lastly, expectant mothers will be discharged only after the all-clear is given and Guam is returned to Condition of Readiness 4.
