FDA: WanaBana announces recall due to elevated lead levels
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a voluntary recall of WanaBana Apple Cinnamon Fruit Purée Pouches.
The items were produced by Wanabana LLC in the United States.
Officials said the fruit purée is being recalled due to reports of elevated levels of lead found in certain units of the product.
Guam Department of Public Health also sharing the announcement Friday.
WanaBana Apple Cinnamon Fruit Purée Pouches were distributed nationwide through online and retail stores. Consumers who purchased WanaBana Apple Cinnamon Fruit Purée Pouches with the certain batch numbers and expiration dates are urged to stop using the product immediately and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund or to discard the product.
DPHSS adds they have not received any local reports of illnesses associated with the use of these potentially affected products, but health officials encourage anyone who may have consumed the product to contact their primary healthcare provider.
