A murder defendant is facing additional criminal charges while being held in the Department of Corrections (DOC) prison.

Jordan Michael Babauta was indicted in connection to an armed robbery reported back in January.

He appeared before Superior Court Magistrate Judge Benjamin Sison today.

Babauta pleaded not guilty and not guilty by reason of mental illness to charges of armed carjacking, second-degree robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, and aggravated assault.

A grand jury indicted Babauta on Oct. 24.

Court documents state he was armed with brass knuckles at the time of the alleged robbery.

As we reported, Babauta is also facing aggravated murder charges in connection to the killing of Army veteran Jason Susuico.

The court today ordered that Babauta undergo a forensic evaluation.
