The University of Guam Center for Island Sustainability and Sea grant unveiled its inaugural issue of Chalan Deskubre, a science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics magazine centering island wisdom.
The place-based steam publication is specifically designed for kids in Guam and within the region to foster scientific curiosity.
In its first issue, the magazine highlights how knowledge from island communities contributes to scientific advancements and innovative practices.
Future releases will spotlight available resources unique to Guam and other islands in the region, aligning with the 17 United Nations (UN) sustainable development goals.
