Couple indicted in deadly Valentine's Day shooting

A grand jury handed down the indictment late Thursday against co-defendants Domingo Mendiola and Jenna Manibusan.
This means the grand jury believes prosecutors had enough evidence to charge the couple in the killing of 53-year-old Sumittra Lairopi.
Mendiola is charged with aggravated murder and first-degree robbery, both with special allegations for possessing a deadly weapon. He is also charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, two counts possession of a firearm without ID, and destruction of evidence.
Manibusan is now facing charges of complicity to commit aggravated murder, complicity to commit first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, complicity to commit theft of a motor vehicle and theft by receiving.
The deadly incident happened on Valentine’s Day at the Thai Thai Healthy Cuisine restaurant in Tamuning.
Mendiola allegedly stole Lairopi’s car after pulling the trigger. Lairopi died two days later at the hospital.
Investigators said the alleged scheme was carried out to help Manibusan get money to pay off a drug debt.
As KUAM reported, the initial charges were dismissed without prejudice against Manibusan and she was released from prison.
Now, she along with Mendiola and will have to appear in court to answer to the charges in the indictment.
It's unclear if police were able to track down the murder weapon but court documents do list a .22 caliber pistol and a .38 caliber revolver linking it to Mendiola.
He remains held on a half a million dollars cash bail.
Mendiola and Manibusan are scheduled to appear back in court on March 7.
