Trial to begin Monday for doctor accused of sexual misconduct

A doctor accused of sexual assault allegations will have his day in court next week

Dr. Ugochukwu Akoma appeared before Judge Alberto Tolentino in superior court today. 

Jury selection for his trial is set for Monday. Defense Attorney Jay Arriola said he is ready to proceed to trial. 

Dr. Akoma is facing two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. 

As we reported, the first sexual conduct complaint was made against him in November 2021 with another in February 2022. 

Akoma is still actively practicing medicine at his private clinic.
