The Marianas Visitors Authority recently unveiled a new design of the iconic 'Saipan' sign in Marpi.
The new design features the local flora. It’s described as a breadfruit and taro leaf motif by local artists Peter Aldan and Tim Deleon Guerrero. Aldan worked on the original design six years ago and contributed to the redesign after the MVA approached him.
They worked on the sign over two days and now tourists can share it with the world online.
"It is actually an honor to be able to have something that has been seen in China, Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, and maybe even the mainland, where our island is being advertised. We want to stand out and show the world what we have, the beauty that we have. So we went with the natural theme," he said.
