Now to the trial ongoing for a doctor accused of sexual misconduct. Today, the prosecution calling up a guam police officer involved in the investigation. A separate witness also testified about the surveillance footage pulled from the day of the alleged incident.
Guam Police Officer Angel Santos takes the stand before Judge Alberto Tolentino in superior court today.
He is testifying as the prosecution’s witness in the misdemeanor trial against Dr. Ugochukwu Akoma.
Akoma stands accused of groping a woman- his patient- before molesting her in Oct. 2021
Santos testifying how he processed the evidence:
"(Albright) and do you remember what the evidence was? (Santos) No, never-I wasn’t privileged to see it other than the packaging (Albright) but if you recalled that case, you recalled what you are retrieving, would you normally read the evidence sheet? (Santos) Yes."
"(Albright) what was the evidence you retrieved (Santos) a wrapped and sealed packaging containing a universal serial bus."
Island Cancer Center administrator Colin O’connell also testifying during trial.
He says he gave 80 hours of surveillance video footage captured the day of the alleged incident to police as well as confirming the layout of the Guam Medical Plaza, where Akoma's clinic is located.
"(Albright) were you responsible for security in this facility? (O’connell) we subcontracted the security to someone else but yet, we were responsible for the security in the building.(O’connell) I think there were 13 different cameras (Albright) Do you know if they go into the defendant’s clinic? (O’connell) No they’re all in common areas."
Akoma is facing two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
He is still actively practicing medicine at his private clinic.
