CNMI Chief Parole Officer Nick Reyes appeared in Superior Court on Saipan.
Reyes, who is facing allegations of misconduct in public office and forgery, had his day in court as his bench trial began on Saipan Monday.
In a February hearing, Reyes asserted his right to a speedy trial.
Reyes did not respond to KUAM's request for comment today.
KUAM also spoke with CNMI Gov. Arnold Palacios as he entered the courtroom to testify in the case.
“I guess this is a contract…some anomaly that they found I guess. I do not know," said Gov. Palacios. "We will see.”
The governor added he is ready to testify.
Reyes is accused of allegedly altering a supposed contract to change the term of employment from 30 days to one year.
His bench trial is ongoing.
