CNMI senate confirms Macaranas as DPS commissioner
The CNMI Senate confirmed Anthony Macaranas to serve as the Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety.
Macaranas, who was Acting DPS Commissioner since Governor Arnold Palacios asked Clement Bermudes to resign, first became a police recruit in 1986 and left the post in 2022 as the Assistant Chief of Police after 35 years.
In his appointment letter to Macaranas, Governor Palacios said, “Lt. Governor David M. Apatang and I are confident that you are qualified and will be an asset to the CNMI. Your willingness to serve our people is most appreciated.”
