The Department of Public Health and Social Services’, Health Professional Licensing and Emergency Medical Services Office is inviting the public to celebrate Emergency Services Week.

EMS Week will be celebrated during the period of May 20 to May 25, 2024, and will officially kick off with a virtual proclamation signing on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 2:30 p.m.

The public is encouraged to attend the following events to join in on the celebration and honoring of Guam’s Emergency Medical Technicians:

Thursday, May 16, 2024: EMS Proclamation Day

  • Governor Lou Leon Guerrero is set to officially proclaim the Week of May 20 to 24, 2024 as Emergency Medical Services Week at 2:30 p.m. which can be viewed on the Governor’s YouTube page at YouTube.com/@govlouguam.

Monday, May 20, 2024: EMS Wave

  • Show your support for all EMS Personnel by joining in on a wave. Showtime is set for 4 p.m and Wave time is from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Chief Kepuha Roundabout in Hagatna.

Tuesday, May 21, 2024: EMS Safety Education Day

  • EMS Personnel will feature educational displays and exhibits from the Guam Fire Department, Andersen Air Force Base Fire, and Joint Region Marianas Fire & Emergency Services, along with Private Non-Emergency Transport Agency Access Medical Transport at various Elementary and Middle Schools.

Wednesday, May 22, 2024: EMS Parade of Lights motorcade 

  • Starting from Agana Shopping Center, Show time is set for 7:30 a.m. and Go time for 7:45 a.m. Emergency Vehicles will demonstrate and showcase the lights and sirens as they parade through the Southern High School, Santa Rita and George Washington High School, Mangilao then up to the Northern Schools Okkodo High School, Dededo and John F. Kennedy High School Tamuning then make our way back to Hagatna to the Agana Shopping Center. 

Wednesday, May 22, 2024: Annual EMS for Children’s Day Health Fair

  • Educational displays and discussions will be held at the Agana Shopping Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. covering subjects like CPR, First Aid services, and demonstrations on how to call 911.

Friday, May 24, 2024: EMS Award & Recognition Ceremony for EMS Life Saving Award and EMS Provider of the Year

  • A ceremony will be held at the Holiday Resort, Tumon, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Please join us in celebrating and honoring our dedicated and hardworking EMT’s who provide life-saving care to the people of Guam.
