Chief Medical Examiner relocates, working remotely
The island’s acting Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Jeffrey Nine, has officially relocated off-island.
Now his proposal to work remotely is under legal review, as the search continues to find his replacement.
The Commission on Post-Mortem Examinations have already drafted an agreement for Dr. Nine and his attorney to look over and finalize.
Nine asserted that a large portion of his duties, such as death certifications and cremation authorizations, can be handled remotely.
Meantime, Medical Examiner's Office Administrative Assistant Johanna Bamba has submitted her death investigator registration and now awaits further details on the certification process.
Attorney General Doug Moylan and Chairman of the Post-Mortem Commission also signed off on an agreement for Saipan-based pathologist Dr. Philip Dauterman.
The commission is expected to meet again on May 22.
