Senator William Mark Parkinson is a member of the 37th Guam Legislature, where he serves as the Chairman on Fire, Power Utilities, Agriculture, Unemployment Insurance and Universal Healthcare. Born in Makati, Philippines, he is the son of Speaker Don Parkinson, a 7-term Guam senator, and Marina Alkonga Parkinson. Parkinson grew up on Guam attending J.Q. San Miguel Elementary School, Jose Rios Middle School, and George Washington High School, which led him to the University of Idaho. After college, he spent a decade battling blazes as a Wildland Firefighter with the United States Forestry Service.

His commitment to service drew him back to Guam to be a caretaker for his father, a military veteran who suffered from Parkinson's Disease. As his father's caretaker he had to navigate the VA system to ensure his father got the proper care he deserved. This profound personal experience fueled his drive to give back to his community through public service. In his first term in the 37th Guam Legislature, Senator Parkinson has already made significant strides, authoring 11 bills that have become law. His notable achievements include legislation that provides residents with a $100 monthly reduction on their power bills and the procurement of emergency generators to alleviate load-shedding. Senator Parkinson also continues to be an ally for women and families, passing a law to provide up to 12 weeks of leave to recover from a miscarriage or stillbirth.

After Typhoon Mawar saw the loss of 99% of crops on Guam, Senator Parkinson passed a law to provide $2 million to farmers to help them replant and bounce back, and continue to provide nutritious locally grown food to the community."
