The hog plum beetles are hogging the siniguelas.

Guam State Entomologist Chris Rosario is raising the alarm on this new invasive pest that has reached our shores.

He says the earliest sighting was first reported this March.

The Hog Plum Beetles may look cute, but they defoliate the Spanish Plum trees, locally known as siniguelas.

Officials are unsure how widespread the pests are, but with 8 reports already, Rosario says they are past the point of eradication.

If you see these invasive beetles on your siniguelas, you’re asked to call pest control hotline at 671-475-PEST (7378).
