From cops testing positive to officers to allegations of cops involved in online illegal gambling, the 90-day timeframe to conduct the internal affairs investigations has passed. KUAM News checks in with the chief of police.

What was the outcome of internal affairs investigations conducted in April, May and June within the Guam Police Department? The 90-day timeframe for a few cases to be actively investigated has since passed. In April, a longtime officer assigned to Hagat precinct tested positive for meth. In May, a federal online gambling case, which named an officer and the initials of three others prompted an IA investigation, and in June, another officer with Hagat Precinct tested positive for drugs. This positive test came about after 75% of GPD to include uniformed personnel and test designated positions were randomly selected for drug testing.

Chief of Police Stephen Ignacio said, "A handful of cases has gone past their 90-days, but I will tell you that personnel action or disciplinary action  has to be administered, it has taken place. But all the other cases, there a couple that are still open and under investigation so we continue to work on those cases with the Internal Affairs Section."

"I unfortunately can't talk about any of the outcomes."

One of the cases still being actively investigated include a female officer getting beauty services done while on the clock, the chief made aware after receiving an anonymous letter. The letter indicating that the officer would be dropped and picked up by a patrol car. Although unable to provide more details into the outcomes, Chief Ireassures the public that proper action will be taken.

And if you want to report any wrongdoing, he says, "If you want to use Crimestoppers to leave a tip about it, by all means." He added, "Somebody had dropped an anonymous letter in my mailbox. If it's a way to bring a matter to my attention, please do so. We welcome it."
