Last weekend it was truly a sight to see and considered a monumental moment when a coalition of over 15 CHamoru dance houses or Gumas, took the stage at the 2024 Pacific Islander Festival Association in San Diego.

The coalition known as Guma’ San Lagu, under the direction and leadership of Fafa’na’gue Saina Eric Reyes of Taotao Taga from Tinian, came together as a show of resilience of the CHamoru people of the Mariana Islands.

Gumas from all over to include California, Nevada, Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia and Texas took part and expressed their rich cultural legacy through song, dance, and chant at the biggest Pacific islander festival in the mainland with over 200,000 in attendance.

Biba CHamoru! Biba Marianas!
