Voters share what they want to hear from candidates ahead of debate

Many in the community are looking forward to seeing incumbent Delegate James Moylan and opponent Ginger Cruz face off in their first congressional debate ahead of the general election.

We spoke to some who share the issues that they want the candidates to address.

“Plans for Simon Sanchez High School, that’s about it. It matters to everyone on the island for the past 21 years. They need a new campus and it's affecting other schools like JFK. It’s something that should have been addressed a while ago and I think they should start moving on it,” said Ordot resident, Aaron Olkeriil.

“Are there more funds coming here to Guam? To help the island and the homelessness? That’s my number one priority,” said Toto resident, Mary Ann Hernandez.

“Guam has to be regional because the way the veterans here are being treated is not the same as how veterans are treated in the states or elsewhere,” said Barrigada resident, Greg.

“They need more officers, more equipment and more training at the prison,” said another Toto resident, Melvin Pangelinan.

“I’m just interested in hearing what they have to say. The future of Guam is in their hands and they play a big role,” said Santa Rita resident, Bob Degand.

And some of these residents said they’ll be tuning in to see if the candidates answer their questions and if they’ll be able to convince voters that they’re the best pick to represent Guam.
