The November 5 general election is fast approaching, and early voting starts Monday. Here's what you need to know if you plan to get to the polls early.

Super Tuesday is less than 24 days away. But why wait until November 5 to make your voice heard? Guam Election Commission executive director Maria Pangelinan with a  message for island voters, saying, “We start Monday. Monday through Saturday—from 10 am-6 pm, the last day is the 28th of October–don’t wait until the last day!”

Early voting kicking off Monday at the Westin Resort Guam in Tumon.

“At Westin, we will also have accessible voting for those persons with disabilities can just drive up in their car, pass the main lobby, stay in your car, and our GEC staff will come and service you," said Pangelinan.

It’s a call to action, as officials recorded very low voter turnout during the August primary. Pangelinan hoping a new wave of precinct officials will turn the tide.

The GEC receiving a competitive grant from the U.S. election assistance commission to recruit poll workers from the university level, resulting in a class of 40 students, including 12 teachers, who will serve as precinct officials in the November race.

She explained, “We hope that our 32 undergraduate students in that class can recruit their friends and relatives to come in and vote for the November 5 general election.”

And another surefire way to boost voter turnout? Pangelinan urges voters to make sure they’re registered.

“Visit GEC.GUAM.GOV and check if you’re registered there–call our office at (671) 477-9791, and if you’re not registered yet–you can show up at the Westin for early voting, and you can get registered and vote at the same time up until October 22," she said.
