It's been a week filled with snippets from the KUAM News 2024 Congressional Debate.

Let's hear from the candidates as they took on more questions from the community.

A night to hear from the candidates hoping to represent Guam in the 119th U.S. Congress.

Incumbent James Moylan and opponent Ginger Cruz took questions from the community.

“What are your thoughts on reproductive rights? If elected, outline the steps you will take to ensure access to comprehensive health care including family planning services for women on Guam,” asked Regine Biscoe Lee with the Guam Women’s Chamber of Commerce.

Ginger Cruz: “Women’s reproductive rights is really the issue of this election and we have to ensure that all of the troubles and problems that we are seeing evidenced all across our country today with women who are having miscarriages ending up dying because they cannot get the health care that they deserve and need. We have to revisit this issue.”

James Moylan: “That’s very important and that decision should be the decision necessary made by the physician and the female. But what’s more important to me is the ability to have the proper medical care on the island. Our hospital facility needs work.”

The candidates also address issues important to Guam's youth and the environment.

“How will you protect Chamoru land rights and Guam’s water resources and ensure that local communities have access to clean water and lands? How will you promote these issues in Congress,” asked Maria Hernandez-May with the Micronesia Climate Change Alliance.

Moylan: “That is a great concern as well. The one island approach with the military working with the government of Guam, with the military working with the people of Guam to protect our resources is important. My conservations I have monthly with the Rear Admiral focuses on that as well. This will not be overlooked by our military running these facilities.”

Cruz: “I will just say that led contamination of our water is an absolute red line. That will not happen if I am in Congress because we have to make sure that water lens is not going to be contaminated. That is what we survive on and more than that. That is the most precious resource that belongs to the people of Guam. It’s a red line. It’s not about one Guam, it’s not about accommodating the military.”
