The Guam Regional Medical City just launched a groundbreaking Telehealth Pilot Program in partnership with UCLA Health. This initiative is aimed at enhancing cancer care on the island, starting with a focus on lung cancer.

GRMC will be working directly with Dr. Amy L. Cummings, M.D., Ph.D., a thoracic oncology expert at UCLA Health, seeking to bring the highest level of cancer expertise directly to GRMC patients, potentially reducing the need for off-island travel.

GRMC’s Cancer Center specialists provide a full range of treatments including Advanced Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, Hormone Therapy, Drug Treatment, and Therapies that include the management of any complications.

Through this collaboration, GRMC patients can access the expertise of Dr. Cummings, a UCLA-trained specialist in chest and lung cancers, without leaving Guam.

Treatment will be delivered at GRMC, with Dr. Cummings consulting remotely via advanced telehealth technology. Using a Telehealth Rounder, Dr. Cummings will meet patients virtually alongside GRMC’s cancer care team, ensuring seamless, interdisciplinary care.

This partnership allows patients to receive cutting-edge treatment aligned with National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines while staying close to family and work.

The program will begin with monthly half-day sessions, with plans to expand to more frequent consultations and other cancer types in the future.

GRMC aims to empower patients by offering access to top cancer specialists and supporting informed healthcare decisions.
