A man serving 25 years in prison for the 2020 deadly shooting of Peter Rios is denied his request to get out early.

Justices in the Supreme Court of Guam denied defendant Juan Mendiola’s request stating his argument that he is 60 and has family obligations is insufficient.

As reported, Rios was found shot dead on May 2020, inside a unit at the Taitano apartments in Mongmong.

Witnesses testified the pair got into an argument before seeing Rios armed with a knife.

Mendiola, who was armed with a gun, shot at Rios twice claiming it was self defense.

Justices also previously denied Mendiola's request to have his manslaughter conviction overturned.
