In the final witching hour, Halloween haunters crept into one spooky shop, hungry for spell-binding costumes.
“I’m looking for a witch costume,” one Halloween-goer, Alexandria Daughtry said.
To iconic duo disguises like Alvin and Chipmunks, said Tayana Reyes and Maymay Rene.
Even the youngsters were getting ghoulishly glam for a fang-tastic day ahead!
“I’m gonna be a pirate,” said Melani.
Harmon's Underground Dungeon Halloween store was a cauldron of last-minute shoppers, all hoping to avoid the dreaded double-double-toil-and-trouble of a costumeless fright night!
“We’ve seen at least 30 passing cars since 6 a.m.–while our doors are open, but we’re closed. I saw maybe at least 40 this morning. And incoming messages on our answering machine–at least 70,” said Jeff Moylan, Owner of the Underground Dungeon.
And the scariest sight of all? A report showing Americans spend a bone-chilling billion dollars on Halloween!
Moylan agrees that island residents are also shelling out on spooky spending—just a little later.
“They’re still spending… but they’re delaying the spend. I think this month, we did better than,” said Moylan. “Last year–they still wanted Halloween to happen.”
With business boo-ming, it's clear that Halloween is still a must-have for many. And as these spooky enthusiasts head out for a night of fun, they have some frightfully helpful safety tips to share.
“Always wear something reflective–that’s the best you can do as a pedestrian, and if you’re driving around with your kids or anyone else–just go slow—because you know people are going to be out there–so just be mindful,” said Daughtry.
