Get ready for the 38th Federated States of Micronesia Independence Day celebration.

Since the beginning of our bilateral ties, the FSM and the United States have enjoyed a deep friendship marked by democratic values and a shared commitment to promoting a free, open, resilient, and prosperous Indo-Pacific.

The Compact of Free Association has been a cornerstone of this strong relationship for many decades.

On Saturday, attendees can expect good food and performances from throughout Micronesia.

It all goes down at the amphitheater at Ypao Beach Park in Tumon this Saturday starting at 10 a.m.

Nedine Songeni is the Program Manager of Humanities Guahan.

“For many of our community members that have made home since the compact impact was signed back in 1986, it’s been an important way to honor our lineage and heritage but to also make space for people to understand the diverse cultures that have come from these islands that call Guam home. I think it is also a great way to connect with others where we have shared heritage about our Pacific island ancestry and heritage. I think that’s why part of the theme this year is very important. Most especially to remember and commemorate this anniversary,” said Songeni.

This year’s theme is Unity in Diversity: Celebrating our heritage and future.

You can join the celebration at Ypao Beach Park at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
