Republican Kimberlyn King-Hinds dominated the race for CNMI delegate, garnering 40% of the vote. Less than 12 hours after her victory, King-Hinds shared her plans to improve the economy with the media outside her home on Saipan.

“The first is to restore the tourism industry. Second, to immediately work on the CW situation, which is about to end here in 2029 and three, work on trying to improve the cost of living by addressing the utilities issue,” said King-Hinds.

Her victory is historic. She’s the first female, the first person from Tinian, and the first Republican to take the seat.

“I hope that, you know, the young girls and young boys too, across the Commonwealth can see me and use me as an example that, you know, no matter how hard your life has been or you know, what adversities you face growing up, if you work hard and you have a goal and you work towards that goal, that nothing is impossible,” said King-Hinds.

King-Hinds maintained her lead in the five-way race through the night as each district’s votes were counted. Before dawn, Democrat Ed Propst wrote on Facebook: “Congratulations to Kim King Hinds, Delegate-elect.  I wish you the very best.”

Independent John Gonzales said in a statement: “I wish you all the best in your next chapter as you faithfully and diligently work to improve the lives of our people, especially the marginalized.”

Independent James Rayphand said, “The voters have spoken... we wish you all the very best.”

And Independent Liana Hofschneider expressed her gratitude for her supporters.

Incumbents in the Saipan and Rota Senate races were unseated. Democrat Manny Castro earned nearly 53% of the vote, beating Senate President Edith Deleon Guerrero, an independent.

Castro said his win is “a reflection of the tireless efforts of so many who believe in the promise of a brighter, stronger Commonwealth.”

Long-time Rota Senator Paul Manglona suffered a major defeat by Ronnie Calvo, an educator and first-time candidate.

“I've learned a lot throughout this journey, and I feel excited and look forward to helping our commonwealth, you know, with its successful development,” said Rota Senator-elect, Ronnie Calvo.
