New republican leadership announced for 38th Guam Legislature

The new republican majority elects leadership has been confirmed. 

Nine GOP senators were elected for the 38th Guam Legislature. 

The group convened for their initial caucus on Wednesday night to select their leadership positions.

Set to serve as speaker is Senator Frank Blas Jr., vice speaker is Senator-Elect Tony Ada, legislative secretary is Senator-Elect Sabrina Salas Matanane, majority leader is Senator Jesse Lujan, and majority whip is Senator-Elect Shelly Calvo.

In addition to these leadership roles, the majority caucus appointed chairpersons for key committees.

This include Committee on Rules chaired by Senator-Elect Tony Ada and Committee on Appropriations chaired by Senator Chris Duenas.

The republican majority plans to reconvene in the coming days to finalize appointments for the remaining committee chair positions.
