Guam DOE schools closed Wednesday, storm shelters to open

Classes at all Guam Department of Education schools have been canceled for Wednesday, Nov. 13, as Tropical Storm Man-Yi approaches the Marianas.

Storm shelters will open at 7 pm.

Maria A. Ulloa Elementary School, George Washington High School, and Talo’fo’fo’ Elementary School have been designated as an emergency shelters available for those in need of refuge.

Shelterees are encouraged to bring essential items such as a 7-day supply of food and water, bedding, personal hygiene products, medication, and important documents including identification and medical records. Officials said it is imperative for the safety of all residents to adhere to the evacuation orders and seek shelter promptly, as the school is part of a network of facilities prepared to provide support during such critical times.

Guam is currently in Condition of Readiness 3 with the anticipation to move into COR 2 by 6 pm today.
