Guam and the CNMI are spared. Tropical Storm Man-Yi tracked south of Guam early today.
All watches and warnings were canceled by midday.
All operations locally resumed around the same time.
The Guam National Weather Service announcing early this afternoon that we are in the clear.
Tropical Storm Man-Yi is out of the Marianas region.
Acting Governor Josh Tenorio sending out this message moments before placing the island back to normal: ""We have been very fortunate and our island seems to have been spared by any destruction from Tropical Storm Man-yi. The storm is leaving the area and without any further complications, Guam will be placed in COR 4 normalizing all operations. GovGuam will reopen at 1pm. I encourage the people of Guam to work together."
Tenorio had signed an emergency declaration ahead of Man-Yi's approach.
Guam National Weather Service meteorologist Brandon Aydlett shared that Guam is in the clear as Man-Yi continues pushing away from the Marianas.
'We got quite a few updates to talk about. We say TS Man-yi moving very quickly overnight. It did eventually pass south of Guam. Initially it was due east of Tinian yesterday evening. Late after sunset we saw a left turn and continued that turn setting it on Rota then Guam. It eventually passed just south of Guam between 4 am and 6 am. Based on the radar, it was about 40 miles south-southeast of Guam. That's only about 25 miles south of Malesso. So not too far away. As of 11 am, no more warning for tropical storm conditions for the Marianas. We are looking for some key satellite data that came through perfectly soon after 10 am. Now, what's happening as we go through the day, the sustained winds are falling down. We are 15 to 20 mph winds...We are seeing wind gusts approaching 50 mph including up on Saipan. We are looking at data more today to see all the observations have been coming in. But here a the airport we are still gusting 40 mph as showers push through. So that's going to be the concern as you consider putting things back outside we are still going to see strong gusts. We did cancel flood this morning. We are look at the possibility of flooding conditions but those heavy showers with the storm center passing south of Guam those showers passed a little farther south so that we move that threat. We will see more showers pushing through but we will not see flood impacts. So as we head into afternoon hours and evening, the conditions will steadily be improving," he said.
Man-Yi forced multiple airlines to delay or cancel flights for the day.
Ultimately, the Marianas is now in the clear.
