President-Elect Donald Trump has named former Hawaii congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard as his nominee for director of national intelligence.
Gabbard made a brief stopover on Guam back in April.
Trump stating, “For over two decades, Tulsi has fought for our country and the freedoms of all Americans. As a former candidate for the Democrat presidential nomination, she has broad support in both parties - she is now a proud republican!”
Gabbard was co-chair of Trump’s transition team.
She served as a US representative in Hawaii 2013 to 2021.
Gabbard ran for president as a democrat in 2020 before denouncing the party two years later.
Trump adding, “I know Tulsi will bring the fearless spirit that has defined her illustrious career to our intelligence community, championing our constitutional rights, and securing peace through strength."
