Guam's Patrick Palomo wins Best Documentary for his film Tradewinds at the Pacific Island Film Festival of New York City.
"I’m especially happy for Mighty Island and my group Tradewinds and everyone involved," said Palomo. "Being able to tell my story is such a blessing!"
Tradewinds is a documentary that follows the legendary CHamoru jazz pianist and includes his thoughts on what indigenous art can be and how it can be passed down.
It was filmed during the height of the COVID pandemic.
Tradewinds was directed and produced by film collective Mighty Island and funded through a grant by Pacific Islanders in Communications.
