A man who admitted to his role in a violent kidnapping gets six years in the Department of Corrections prison.
Defendant Anselmo Jose Untalan learned his fate before Judge Vernon Perez in Superior Court Tuesday afternoon.
Untalan admitted to the court that being in prison is not allowing him to get the help he needs.
Untalan and co-defendant Ray Flores Jr. were arrested last year for kidnapping the victim at gunpoint.
The victim was forced into a car in Chalan Pago where the attack continued.
Untalan took the prosecutor's plea deal admitting to charges of aggravated assault and felonious restraint.
Judge Perez told him, “You admit you let the drugs get the best of you…it’s a good thing you didn’t pull the trigger.”
Co-defendant Flores is currently serving a nine year prison sentence.
