The Leon Guerrero-Tenorio Administration celebrated the completion of Phase 1 of the Route 14B (Ypao Road) Reconstruction and Widening Project during a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Tamuning.
This $10 million project, funded by the Federal Highway Administration and executed by InfraTech International LLC, enhances a key roadway connecting Route 1 Marine Corps Drive to Route 14 San Vitores Road in Tamuning and Tumon.
“Route 14B, Ypao Road, is a vital artery for our visitor industry, businesses, and residents. We are grateful to the Federal Highway Administration and our local contractors for their support in improving these roadway conditions, benefiting our entire community,” said Governor Lou Leon Guerrero.
“With Phase 1 completed, residents, pedestrians, and visitors alike can now enjoy safer access and take in the scenic views of Tumon Bay from the newly constructed sidewalks,” Lt. Governor Josh Tenorio added.
DPW Director Vince Arriola noted, “This project includes new sidewalks, streetlights, and a retaining wall. We are excited about the enhanced road system delivered with Phase 1 and look forward to the next phase, which will continue improving road safety.”
The improvements span 0.35 miles from Carmen Memorial Drive to San Vitores Road, including widened lanes for shared-use bicycles, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, a storm drainage system, retaining walls, and utility relocations.
This project marks a significant step forward in enhancing Guam’s infrastructure for both residents and visitors.
