A military service member is placed under arrest after a weekend crash in Dededo.

There’s still evidence of an early morning crash along Route 1 where a pedestrian was hit as he crossed the street before he was rushed to the hospital.

Twenty-seven-year-old Nikita Owens is charged with vehicular negligence with injuries, driving while impaired, reckless driving with injuries, and driving while impaired.

Police noted his blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.

Prison records show Owens is with the military, specifically the U.S. Navy.

Late Monday, Joint Region Marianas officials confirmed Owens is a U.S. Navy Sailor assigned to Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Guam.

Officials added Guam Police Department is investigating the incident and the Navy is fully cooperating.

Now, court records state Owens was driving to his residence in Yigo from a bar in Tumon when the crash occurred.

Authorities noted damage to the bumper and hood of his car.

Police performed a field sobriety test on Owens, stating he reeked of alcohol.

The pedestrian was rushed to the Guam Regional Medical City following the crash.

Police have confirmed he suffered non-life threatening injuries, and is expected to survive.

In the meantime, Owens is set to appear before a Superior Court judge to answer to the charges.
