With the sun beaming down ,the wind rustling through the trees, and live music echoing throughout Fort Apugan, the island community came out in full support for the Fall Farmers Market.

Organized by Fam Farms, the Fall Farmers Market not only was a chance to support the local economy but it also stressed the importance of sustainable practices and community.

Attendees were able to engage directly with vendors, learn about the origin of their goods, and the passion behind their crafts.

Fam Farms' aims to instill the values of sustainability, buying local, and food security, starting with our children, sowing valuable seeds today for a bountiful future for our children.

Kallen Perez, whose five-year-old daughter was selling basil at the market, said she loves to plant.

“She saves her atis seeds, her orange seeds, and she says, I'm gonna plant this,” said Perez.

The market gave off Thanksgiving fall vibes, offering a pumpkin patch, perfect for that family photo-op and even a farming petting zoo.

Along with live music from Pacific Cool and Gene Castro, there were several food trucks like Pono Hawaiian Grill and the Shady Shack, and vendors offering locally grown produce, arts and crafts, and more.

“We wanted to create a space for farmers and local business owners and connect with the community,” said Daria Calvo, event organizer.

Calvo explained what inspired the event and Fam Farms' overall mission.

“When I go off island, and you take a stroll through the farmers markets, and you get to connect with the vendors, and buy fresh produce, I wanted that here on Guam,” Calvo added.

She said her amazing team helped bring that vision to life.

“We do our best to get the community involved and really showcase our farmers on the island because without them we don't get that fresh produce that all of us crave,” she said. “It takes a lot of work and a lot of love so we want to give them the support they need because we need them!”
