U.S. Coast Guard deepens maritime partnerships during engagements in Republic of the Marshall Islands
The U.S. Coast Guard has wrapped up a series of crucial engagements in the Republic of the Marshall Islands, strengthening maritime security and partnerships under the Compact of Free Association.
From Nov. 6 to Nov. 18, Coast Guard personnel from Micronesia/Sector Guam and District 14 collaborated with the Marshall Islands Marine Resources Authority and Sea Patrol, focusing on maritime law enforcement and community outreach.
Discussions included updates to the bilateral maritime law enforcement agreement, addressing sovereignty issues, and promoting a secure and prosperous Pacific region.
A Hawaii-based HC-130 Hercules aircraft team conducted aerial maritime domain awareness operations, covering over 51,000 square nautical miles and identifying 23 vessels.
Despite weather challenges, their mission demonstrated the Coast Guard's adaptability and dedication to regional security.
Coast Guard personnel also engaged in community outreach, strengthening trust and cooperation with local partners.
Lt. Anna Maria Vaccaro emphasized, “Every effort reflects our commitment to safeguarding lives, securing lawful seas, and empowering Pacific communities.”
