Guam’s public hospital stops accepting TakeCare Insurance

Unpaid claims have forced the Guam Memorial Hospital to stop accepting TakeCare Insurance from patients.

GMH announced they would longer be accepting it as of 5:01 pm Wednesday.

The hospital stated in a news release that this decision follows extensive efforts by GMHA to address unpaid claims with TakeCare Insurance, adding ‘despite regular communications regarding the issue, TakeCare has failed to fulfill its statuary and contractual financial obligations to GMHA.’

“Our hospital is committed to providing quality healthcare to the people of Guam,” said Lillian Perez-

Posadas, GMH Administrator. “However, the ongoing delays and non-payment of valid claims by TakeCare places an undue burden on GMHA’s operations and direct risk to patient safety.”

A similar situation occurred back in August, but TakeCare was reinstated shortly after they made payment.
