This Sunday is World AIDS Day.

In 2023, the World Health Organization estimated 39.9 million people were living with HIV globally.

The Department of Public Health in partnership with WestCare Pacific Islands, Guam Alternative Lifestyle Association and others are highlighting this special day.

Since 1988, World AIDS Day has been observed annually on December 1 and serves as an opportunity for the world to unite in the ongoing fight against HIV and AIDS.

This day also recognizes and remembers those lost due to this disease.

2024 marks the 36th commemoration of this important day with Guam following the World Health Organization theme “Take The Rights Path: My Health, My Rights!”.

A community wave is planned for monday at the ITC intersection from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Then, on Thursday, December 5th, the community is invited to take advantage of free STD and HIV testing at the DPHSS Northern Region Community Health Center in Dededo.
