This time of year is special for any number of reasons, but Guam's Catholic faithful have surely reserved December 8 on their calendars for the annual celebration of our island's patroness, Santa Marian Kamalen. And if you've noticed, this year the 8th falls on a Sunday, so the mass and procession will take place next Monday.

Father Will Mamangun told KUAM News the details, saying, "So, on Monday, December 9, we'll have the regular Sunday masses – the 6am, 7:30am, 9:30am, 11:30am and the 6pm – and then we'll also have our traditional procession around Hagatna. And this is the second year that we've come back to that format after the pandemic. And we're looking forward to more participation from our faithful."

As for the course parishioners will walk, Father Will says the clockwise loop around the island's capitol remains the same, starting and ending at the cathedral.

He explained, "So, it starts at the old Carmen's restaurant – we start from there and then go straight and then turn right on O'Brien Drive and then around the Bank of Guam on 5th Street and the old Staywell building, and then back around Bank of Hawaii and then back here. So it's pretty much the same route we'd been doing since the pandemic."

If you're off-island, you can stream the masses at facebook.com/aganacathedral or watch on KUAM-TV8.
