Longtime Jamaican Grill employees reflect on hitting milestone
Sunday, December 8 marks 30 years for Jamaican Grill. To close out our weeklong series highlighting the restaurant, we speak to some of employees who have been part of the journey for several years.
The key compenent to Jamaican Grill's success - the amazing staff. For restaurant manager Colleen Ross, who's been part of the team for 20 years, says she's really enjoyed staying with Jamaican Grill. "I've worked at all four locations, great people, really a great time, if you're loving your job, you stay in it," she shared.
And while Kenney believes the employees are what make the restaurant what it is today, Ross says believes its the owners. "The owners are incredibly hardworking. They are thinking all the time. They never stop thinking about what can we do? How can we improve and they involve us in their thoughts. They want our opinions, our ideas...it's an ongoing process .it's a fluid operation," she said.
Kitchen manager for the Mangilao location Disah Isimang has been with Jamaican Grill for 15 years and says its the atmosphere and the people he gets to work with that has kept him with the restaurant. What he feels has been the reason jamaican grill has been able to hit such a special milestone? Aside from the delicious food?
"I think it's just the owners, they have a lot of heart, they reach out to the community, they support," he said. "The vibe, the food, the music."
From everyone at Jamaican Grill thank you to all who have supported and continue to support Ya Mon, Serious Food.
