The Marianas Open is kicking off 2025 with the Copa de Marianas, set for Jan. 25 at the University of Guam Calvo Field House.

This year’s event promises thrilling action with Gi and no-Gi grappling tournaments for all divisions, from kids to Masters 2.

The stakes are high, with winners receiving all-expense-paid trips to compete in the Marianas Pro in Japan, with destinations in Tokyo or Nagoya.

Marianas Open President Steve Shimizu shared that the tournament is about more than competition. It’s a celebration of unity, resilience, and sports tourism.

He said it's an opportunity to showcase world-class talent, strengthen international bonds, and put Guam on the map as a premier destination for martial arts.

The 2025 tournament series will also expand to Nagoya, Tokyo, Manila, Taiwan, and Korea, with winners returning to Guam this fall for the grand finale and a shot at a major cash prize.
