The Bureau of Statistics and Plans conducts survey for the 2050 Guåhan Sustainability Plan
The Bureau of Statistics and Plans and Market Research and Development announced that it is conducting a randomly generated phone survey for Guam residents to directly contribute to developing the Guåhan 2050 Sustainability Plan.
The survey began on Dec. 6 and aims to gather essential insights on issues shaping the future of the island.
The survey is an important part of the development process for the Guahan 2050 Sustainability Plan, established by Public Law 35-110 in 2020, a roadmap for sustainable growth, development, and conservation in Guam.
The GSP2050 centers on building a sustainable future for Guam with a focus on economic growth, affordable housing, clean water, reliable infrastructure, environmental protection, cultural preservation, and public health and safety.
BSP notes that the survey questions will focus on the following topics and invites the community to share their views on each:
- Economy: economic direction, development priorities, and growth opportunities.
- Environment: conservation, renewable energy, and balancing development with the protection of natural resources.
- Culture and Society: cultural site preservation, recreational space enhancements, and protection of Guam's scenic beauty.
- Community: housing needs, infrastructure improvements, and support for local development projects.
BSP Director Lola Leon Guerrero is urging all Guam residents who are contacted to participate in this important survey.
“Community input is essential in providing insights that will guide Guam’s growth and development. Our residents play a vital role in shaping the future of the GSP2050 by participating directly in this survey. We want to ensure that this plan truly reflects the needs and aspirations of those who call Guam home,” said Leon Guerrero.
BSP shared that the survey calls will originate from a Guam number, 671-682-4142, and will begin with an official message from Market Research and Development, the company conducting the phone survey.
