Two rescued in Hagatna Boat Basin kayaking incident

A kayaking incident at the Hagåtña Boat Basin Channel this morning has left one man in critical condition and another injured. At 9:13 a.m., Guam Fire Department units responded to reports of distressed kayakers. Upon arrival, rescuers found a 55-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive, being assisted by a local surfer.

The man was brought aboard a GFD rescue vessel, where CPR was initiated before paramedics transported him to Naval Hospital.

Meanwhile, a second individual, a 61-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Guam Memorial Hospital for treatment. The incident is under investigation, and authorities are reminding the public to exercise caution when engaging in water activities.
