Delegate James Moylan celebrated a historic achievement for Guam's defense capabilities.

In a statement released early this morning, Delegate Moylan confirmed the success of Flight Experiment Mission-02, a groundbreaking ballistic missile defense test for Guam.

During the test, Guam-based aegis systems fired an SM-3 block IIA missile to intercept and destroy a medium-range ballistic missile target.

Andersen Air Force Base personnel used the AN/TPY-6 radar to track the target, leading to a successful interception and neutralization.

Moylan stressed that the test did not pose any risk to the people or the island, adding that debris inspections would be conducted later today.

He called this a major step toward 360-degree missile defense and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the safety of Guam through strong congressional support in the upcoming National Defense Authorization Act.
