Taxi driver robbed on Saipan, five suspects at large
Police are looking for the suspects who attacked and robbed a taxi driver Tuesday night.
It happened at the Coral Ocean Point Resort in Koblerville. Five men called for taxi service from a laundromat in Fina Sisu.
The driver dropped them to a pavilion at the beach area of the resort when one suspect used a seat belt to choke him.
Police said others repeatedly punched his face and head.
The taxi driver was able to get away and call for help.
He was taken to the Commonwealth Health Care Corporation for treatment.
The suspects, who remain at large, took off with his cellphone and cash that was secured in a fanny pack.
